Breweries - Tetley's: hot property

After 180 years of brewing on the site in Hunslet, Leeds, Tetley's brewery is under threat of closure.
Leeds City planners have re-zoned the whole city riverside as a residential area, thus threatening the continued production at the plant that employs, directly, over 300 workers.
Obviously, the diminution of the city's industrial base is of little concern to those who think the future can be sustained by putting up blocks of flats which have been described by several studies as "the slums of the future".
Carlsberg-Tetley has yet to make much of a fuss. After all, the site with planning permission is worth about £100 million to speculators.
