Government and media chorus about a recovery. Yet the economy is still about 2 per cent smaller than it was at the end of 2007. More than six years, and Britain still has not recovered to where it was before the crash.
And this is no surprise, given that our levels of investment are far below the world average of 23 per cent. Britain’s investment in 2010, 2011 and 2012 was just 15 per cent of GDP – lower proportionally than Afghanistan’s. ■
