30 November, Newcastle: the pensions march lines the Tyne as workers in the North East joined with the rest of the country in protest at the government’s plans. Many of the workers were on strike for the first time in their lives. Rallies took place from Scotland to the Isle of Wight – where a rally took place in St. Thomas Square, Newport, with the union members from St. Mary’s Hospital and teachers as well as council workers and workers from the Jobcentre.
